Sark School Cricket Team in Kwik Cricket Tournament

On Friday 27th June the school's cricket team left on the 11am boat to take part in the Kwik Cricket Tournament in Guernsey. This year the team was comprised of pupils from Years 4 to 7 with just one Year 8, Brianna, making up the numbers. Despite being the school's best player, Jack, also in Year 8, was deemed too old to play and so accompanied the team as assistant coach.

The team played 5 matches against stiff competition and unfortunately gave away too many wickets to progress to the semi-finals. However the whole team played well and supported each other, only just lost the 5th and 6th team play-off by one run to officially come 6th out of the 10 teams competing.

The afternoon passed quickly and the mini-bus arrived in time to return the team to the harbour to catch the 5.45pm boat back to Sark, unfortunately not leaving enough time for a quick visit to Checkers Express! We also had to miss the presentation to the winners of the tournament, leaving as the final between Beechwood 5 and Beechwood 6 was reaching its climax.

Many thanks to Lewis for his excellent coaching this term and giving up so much time to support the young cricketers. Also for finding the sponsor for our special cricket tournament strip.
